ISI Mark for Fire Extinguishers

For portable extinguishers, BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification guarantees compliance with Indian Standard IS 15683:2018; for wheeled extinguishers, IS 16018:2012 guarantees compliance. Application submission, product testing at labs approved by BIS, manufacturing inspection, and compliance verification comprise the procedure. Manufacturers have to turn in quality control information, test data, and technical documentation. Approved they get a BIS licence and have to mark their goods with the ISI certification mark. Certification improves regulatory compliance, market credibility, and product safety. It has two years validity and must be renewed. In India, selling fire extinguishers requires BIS certification.
