CRS Mark for Mobile Phones

Mobile phones in India must comply with safety and quality requirements by means of the BIS CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) certification.  Under control the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), mobile phones have to satisfy IS 13252, Part 1: 2010 (Information Technology Equipment – Safety Requirements).  Product testing at a BIS-approved facility, online application submission, document review, and fee payment comprise the process.  Approved, the maker gets a BIS CRS certificate which lets them mark the CRS mark on the good.  In India, manufacturing, importing, and selling mobile phones all depend on this two-year accreditation.
