Video cameras sold in India must have the BIS CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) certification to guarantee adherence to IS 616:2017, the Indian safety standard for electrical equipment. Under direction of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), this certification guarantees regulatory compliance, quality, and product safety. Manufacturers have to name an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR), if foreign, test the product in a BIS-approved lab, and then send the application via the BIS portal. Approved, a special registration number is generated. To keep legal sales in India going two years from now, the certification must be renewed before expiration.
