Certified by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), cast iron items in India are guaranteed to be safe and of quality. Manufacturers must follow pertinent Indian Standards including IS 210:2009 ( Grey Iron Castings), IS 1865 (Ductile Iron Castings), IS 1729:2002 (Drainage Pipes), and IS 8329 (Ductile Iron Pressure Pipes). Applications are submitted, documents are verified, products are tested, factories are inspected, and licences are issued part of process. Products approved can show compliance by bearing the ISI mark. Under Quality Control Orders (QCO), some items require certification; this helps to improve market confidence by guaranteeing safety and performance criteria.
