Fire resistance and safety criteria for Upholstered Composites used in Non-Domestic Furniture are specified by IS 15768:2008, which is guaranteed compliance with by the BIS Certification License for these materials. Manufacturers wishing to sell these goods in India must have this certification, which is stipulated under the Protective Textiles Quality Control Order, 2024. Product testing, application to BIS, a factory audit, and compliance verification comprise the procedure. Once all criteria are satisfied, BIS certifies the mark for use. Until March 31, 2025, industries building non-domestic furniture from these fabrics are free from taxes. Products exported also exempt. For applications including commercial and institutional furniture, BIS certification guarantees quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
