Process to apply for BIS ISI Mark certification for domestic manufacturers:
Step 1: Identify Product and Indian Standard (IS) Code
First, check if your product needs a mandatory certification or if you want voluntary certification. Then, find the Indian Standard (IS) code for your product.
Step 2: Pre-Testing of the product
Send your product to a BIS recognized lab for testing. This will show if it meets the standards or needs improvement.
Step 3: Prepare Required Documents and paying application Fees
Gather all needed documents like company registration and product details. Also, get all necessary approvals and declarations. Pay the application fee in the BIS account and share the receipt.
Step 4: Submitting the Application
After paying the fees and preparing your documents, submit the application.
Step 5: Factory Inspection by BIS Officer
After applying, BIS will inspect your factory. They check the entire facility and seal a sample for testing.
Step 6: Testing of Product Samples
Send your product to the lab chosen by BIS. It will be tested to see if it meets the Indian Standards (IS).
Step 7: Test Report Review
After testing, BIS will review the test report. If it passes, the report will be approved.
Step 8: Grant of BIS ISI License
After paying the MMF and PBG fees, you'll get a two-year license.
