The BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) certification assures that electronic items in India meet safety and quality standards. Optical disc players with built-in amplifiers rated at 200W or above must conform with Indian Standard IS 616:2010. Manufacturers must test their goods in a BIS-accredited NABL lab, submit test data, and apply via the BIS portal. Following evaluation and acceptance, BIS authorizes registration, which allows the Standard Mark to be used. The certification is only valid for two years and has to be renewed. This accreditation is required to sell certain items in India, assuring customer safety and product reliability.
