CRS Mark for Storage Battery

The BIS CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) certification for storage batteries guarantees adherence to Indian Standard IS 16270:2014, which establishes safety and performance criteria for secondary cells and batteries used in solar PV applications.  Manufacturers who want certification have to test their goods in a BIS-approved lab, send an application with technical data, and let BIS examine their work.  Both home and international companies have to comply; foreign companies need an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR).  Once approved, the product can display the BIS CRS label, therefore guaranteeing quality and market availability in India.  Periodically, the certification has to be renewed.
