Compliance

Is it mandatory?

CDSCO registration is legally mandated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Cosmetics Rules, 2020. Any cosmetic product—whether manufactured domestically or imported—must be registered before it can be sold, distributed, or marketed in India.

Similarly, all medical devices notified under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017 require CDSCO registration before they can be imported, manufactured, sold, or distributed in India. Devices sold without valid registration are liable to seizure, and the responsible persons face prosecution under the Act.
