BIS FOR CRS REGISTRATION

BIS CRS Certification is a mandatory requirement for most electronics and IT products sold or imported in India. Under the Compulsory Registration Scheme, over 80 product categories—including mobile phones, portal batteries, LED TVs, monitors, adapters, power banks, laptops, smart watches, IoT devices, and telecom equipment—must be registered with the Bureau of Indian Standards. Manufacturers and importers must get products tested in BIS-approved labs and apply through the BIS portal. Once certified, a unique registration number is issued for compliance. Without BIS CRS certification, products cannot be legally manufactured, sold, or cleared through customs in the Indian market.

BIS FOR FMCS

BIS FMCS (Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme) is a mandatory certification program by the Bureau of Indian Standards for overseas manufacturers who wish to export products to India under the ISI Mark. Covering over 850+ product categories, the scheme ensures that imported goods comply with Indian quality and safety standards. Under FMCS, the foreign manufacturer must establish an in-country liaison, maintain production quality systems, and undergo factory audits and sample testing at BIS-recognized laboratories. With more than 25 new product categories being added every year, BIS FMCS certification has become essential for global manufacturers to access and trade compliantly in the Indian market.
