Yes, as per IS 16046 (Part 2): 2018, BIS CRS certification is mandatory for power banks in India.
How long is the BIS CRS certification valid?
The certification is valid for two years and requires renewal.
Where can I apply for BIS CRS certification?
You can apply online at www.manakonline.in.
Is factory inspection required for certification?
Factory inspection is not required for CRS but may be needed for foreign manufacturers.
Can foreign manufacturers apply for BIS certification?
Yes, but they must appoint an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR).
Can I still register this product under IS 13252 (Part 1):2010?
Yes, until 1 November 2028. IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 has replaced IS 13252 (Part 1):2010, and until that date you can choose either standard; after it the old standard is withdrawn. We recommend testing to IS/IEC 62368-1:2023 now, so you will not need a new test report later. Testing starts from ₹35,000.
