RCMC full form and purpose

RCMC stands for Registration-cum-Membership Certificate. It registers an exporter with the council for its main line of business and makes it a member. Exporters need it to apply for authorisations and benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy, such as Advance Authorisation and EPCG, and to use council services such as trade fairs and market information.

Which council issues your RCMC?

There are 26 Export Promotion Councils and 9 commodity boards. Choose the one for your main products, for example:

  • Engineering goods: EEPC India
  • Chemicals: CHEMEXCIL; pharmaceuticals: Pharmexcil
  • Apparel: AEPC
  • Electronics and software: ESC
  • Plastics: PLEXCONCIL
  • Gems and jewellery: GJEPC
  • Agricultural and processed food: APEDA
  • Spices: Spices Board (see Spices Board registration)

Exporters of several unrelated products, and service exporters, can take an RCMC from FIEO; see FIEO membership.
