Overview of Fabric & Garment Physical Testing
- Tested by
- NABL-accredited partner lab
- Regulation
- ISO, ASTM & IS methods
- Typical turnaround
- 4–6 working days
- Sample needed
- 1–2 m fabric or 3 garments
Buyers specify fabric and garments by performance. Fabric weight (GSM), thread count, tensile and tear strength, abrasion and pilling resistance, dimensional stability after washing and seam strength show whether a fabric will survive use and laundering, and whether the garment matches its approved sample.
Fibre composition testing confirms the blend on the care label, a frequent cause of rejections. Government tenders for uniforms and technical textiles, and Quality Control Orders for some technical textiles, add Indian Standard requirements. Pair physical tests with colour fastness and chemical safety for a complete buyer report.
