Rubber parts are specified by a handful of properties: hardness, tensile strength, elongation at break, compression set and how these change after heat ageing or exposure to oil, fuel and ozone. Seals and gaskets that lose their recovery leak; hoses and belts that harden crack. Test methods follow the IS 3400 series and the equivalent ISO and ASTM methods named in automotive and industrial specifications.
Compounders test each batch for consistency, while OEM suppliers test against drawing requirements for PPAP and failure investigations. Material identification by FTIR and TGA shows whether a part is made from the specified polymer, such as EPDM, NBR or silicone. Natural rubber trade itself is overseen by the Rubber Board.
What we do for you
- Lab and parameter list chosen for your purpose: licence, export, buyer or internal QC
- Sampling guidance, and pickup or on-site sampling where needed
- One contact who follows up with the lab until the report is issued
- Report explained in plain language, with next steps if a result fails
