Overview of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Testing
- Tested by
- NABL-accredited partner lab
- Regulation
- ISHRAE IEQ standard
- Typical turnaround
- 5–7 days after the visit
- Sampling
- On-site, floor by floor
People spend most of their day indoors, and in sealed, air-conditioned buildings the air can hold more carbon dioxide, fine particles and chemical vapours than outside. India has no statutory indoor air limits for offices, so buildings follow the ISHRAE indoor environmental quality standard, which sets performance classes, and the requirements of IGBC, GRIHA, LEED and WELL ratings, which ask for measured data before and after occupancy.
Monitoring covers CO2 (a measure of ventilation), PM2.5 and PM10, total VOCs, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, temperature and humidity, plus airborne bacteria and fungi where hygiene matters, such as hospitals and food areas. Results point to fixes such as more fresh air, better filtration or a change of materials. Outdoor air is covered by ambient air quality monitoring.
