Overview of Noise Level Monitoring
- Tested by
- NABL-accredited partner lab
- Regulation
- Noise Pollution Rules 2000
- Typical turnaround
- 3–5 days after monitoring
- Sampling
- On-site measurement
The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 set day and night ambient limits for industrial, commercial, residential and silence zones. Factories, construction sites, malls, hotels and event venues measure noise at their boundary for consent conditions and to answer complaints. DG sets have their own noise limits and need acoustic enclosures.
Inside the workplace, noise is an occupational health issue under the Factories Act and state factory rules, which limit exposure over a working day. A noise survey maps high-noise areas, works out each worker’s daily exposure and shows where hearing protection or engineering controls are needed.
